The math at 30 inspections a month

On Spectora’s Advanced tier: $109 + (30 × $4) = $229/month — about $2,748/year.

On NexGenSpec: $49/month — $588/year (or $449 billed annually). Same month of work, roughly $2,100+ a year difference. That’s a radon monitor, your E&O deductible, or a vacation.

Why owning your data matters in this job

Your inspection photos, signatures, and reports are evidence. With NexGenSpec they live on your own devices and — with iCloud Sync on (the default) — in your own private iCloud, syncing across your Apple devices. NexGenSpec never receives, stores, or can access them; there is no NexGenSpec server between you and your records, and a Local-Only mode keeps everything on a single device if you prefer. The app works at full speed with zero bars in a basement, and if a finding is ever challenged, your audit trail of timestamps and acceptance logs is yours, in accounts you control. No vendor subscription expiring between you and your own records — just note that sync is not a backup (deletions propagate), so keep iCloud Backup on.

When Spectora is still the right call

Honesty over marketing: pick Spectora if you need Android (NexGenSpec is iOS/iPadOS), if you want desktop web-based report editing, or if you run a multi-inspector firm today — NexGenSpec Teams is still in development. If those don’t apply, you’re paying roughly 2–4× more for infrastructure you may not use.

Common questions

Does NexGenSpec charge per inspection?

No. NexGenSpec Pro is $49/month flat (or $449/year) with unlimited inspections. There are no per-inspection or per-report fees.

Is NexGenSpec available now?

NexGenSpec is launching soon on the App Store. Joining the waitlist gets you launch-day access, and your first 3 inspections are free and full-featured (reports carry a small NexGenSpec watermark).

Can I switch from Spectora mid-season?

Yes. NexGenSpec does not lock your data in: reports are standard PDFs, and your inspections stay under your control — on your own devices and, with iCloud Sync on, in your own private iCloud. NexGenSpec never has access to them.
