Common Questions
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Apple, not through NexGenSpec.
Open iOS Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → NexGenSpec → tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Pro access until then.
To change tier (Monthly ↔ Annual), tap the other plan in the same Subscriptions screen.
How do I delete my account?
Open NexGenSpec → Settings → Account → Delete Account. The app asks you to reauthenticate (password or Sign in with Apple), then permanently:
- Deletes your Firebase authentication record.
- Erases every inspection, photo, signature, and PDF stored on the device.
- Saves a deletion receipt to your Files app under
On My iPad → NexGenSpec → NexGenSpecReceiptsso you have a record.
This action cannot be undone. NexGenSpec keeps no server-side copy of inspection content.
How do I export a finished inspection report?
Open the inspection → tap Finalize and collect both signatures → tap Invoice & Send. The app generates a branded PDF with your company logo on every page and opens a mail composer with the client and inspector copies attached.
You can also export the full inspection package (PDF + photos + LiDAR USDZ files) as a .zip via the Files app: tap the share icon on the inspection → Save to Files.
Do my inspections sync between my devices?
Yes. With iCloud Sync on (the default), NexGenSpec syncs your inspections — the inspection record, report PDFs, thumbnails, and LiDAR floor plans — across the Apple devices signed in to your iCloud account, through your private iCloud (Apple CloudKit). The data goes only to your iCloud account: NexGenSpec never receives, stores, or can access it, and there is no NexGenSpec server in the path.
Full-resolution photos, videos, and 3D scan files stay on the device where they were captured, and archive/invoice status is tracked per-device. Prefer to keep everything on a single device? Turn on Local-Only mode in Settings. Note that sync is not a backup — deleting an inspection removes it from your other devices too, so keep your own backups.
To move a full inspection package (PDF + photos + LiDAR scans) intentionally, open the inspection, tap the share icon, and choose Save to Files.
What if I cancel my subscription — do I lose past inspections?
No. Inspections you have already created remain on your device and stay readable and exportable. Subscription only gates the creation of new inspections beyond the free trial allowance and removes the watermark on freshly generated PDF reports.
The app crashed. What information should I send?
If the app crashed, anonymized crash reports are automatically sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix the bug. These reports contain no inspection content or personal information.
It also helps if you email contact@nexgenspec.com with: the iPad/iPhone model, iOS version, NexGenSpec version, and a short description of what you were doing when the crash happened.
How do I back up my inspections?
NexGenSpec relies on iCloud Backup. Make sure iCloud Backup is turned on under iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Backup. Your inspection data is included in the device backup.
For an explicit copy of a specific inspection, use Save to Files from the inspection's share menu to write a .zip archive to iCloud Drive (or any provider you choose).
iCloud Sync (on by default) keeps your inspection records, report PDFs, and floor plans on your other Apple devices, but it is not a backup — deleting an inspection removes it everywhere it synced, and full-resolution photos and videos live only on the device that captured them. Keep iCloud Backup on, or save periodic Save to Files archives, for a true backup.
Does NexGenSpec work without an internet connection?
Yes. Inspections are created, captured, finalized, and exported on your device, with no internet connection required for that work. Internet is used for sign-in, subscription validation, the weather stamp at the start of an inspection, sending the final PDF via email, and — when iCloud Sync is on — syncing your inspections to your other devices through your private iCloud.
If you go offline mid-inspection, the app continues to work. Pro entitlement is cached for up to 7 days offline so a subscriber on a remote job site does not lose Pro features.
Account & Privacy
With iCloud Sync on (the default), NexGenSpec syncs your inspections — records, report PDFs, thumbnails, and LiDAR floor plans — across the Apple devices on your private iCloud account (Apple CloudKit). The data goes only to your iCloud, and NexGenSpec never hosts, receives, or can access your reports, photos, or client information on any server. Full-resolution photos and videos stay on the device that captured them. Turn on Local-Only mode in Settings to keep inspections on a single device. See the Privacy Policy for the full data-handling story and the Terms of Service for usage terms.
System Requirements
- iPad: iPadOS 17 or later. LiDAR room scanning requires iPad Pro 11" / 12.9" / 13" with LiDAR sensor.
- iPhone: iOS 17 or later. LiDAR room scanning requires iPhone Pro or Pro Max with LiDAR sensor.
- Storage: ~150 MB for the app itself, plus space for your inspections (typical inspection with 60–100 photos is 200–400 MB).
